Senior affordable housing communities offer private apartments for independent seniors with low or moderate incomes who meet federal or state income limits. Affordable senior housing communities are designed for people 62 and older whose income meets state or federally established guidelines. In our HUD-subsidized community, residents pay rent based on 30% of their adjusted gross annual income. Income guidelines are established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development or the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. Income limits vary by county. Some affordable housing communities are open to adults 18 or older who require a barrier-free residence due to mobility impairment.
