Cooking, Community, and Healthy Living: Asbury Tower Residents Enjoy Special Springpoint Event

Residents of Asbury Tower, a Springpoint affordable housing community, recently took part in a fresh produce distribution and cooking demonstration, thanks to a generous gift from Getty Realty Corp. The event was hosted by the Springpoint Foundation, which supports and funds several affordable housing initiatives through its Community Cares program. Springpoint CEO Anthony Argondizza was also in attendance.

Activities included a fresh produce distribution, a healthy cooking demonstration presented by Morrison Living (featuring a pasta primavera lunch), and several gift card raffles. Throughout the day, residents were encouraged to keep meals “nutritious and delicious” while on a budget.

Through the Getty Gives Program, the philanthropic arm of Getty Realty, employees are encouraged to nominate nonprofit organizations that they actively support and participate in.

Mark Olear, COO of Getty Realty and Vice-Chair of the Springpoint Board of Trustees, recently nominated the Springpoint Foundation, specifically for its efforts involving affordable housing support. The Foundation then delegated the gift to Asbury Tower, an affordable housing community located in Monmouth County with occupancy of over 340 residents.

“As a Trustee of Springpoint, I am inspired and look for any way I can support [its] mission,” Olea, who also serves on Springpoint’s Planning Committee and Investment Committee, said.

Part of that mission and vision is to “offer exceptional services and innovative programs that empower those we serve and those who serve them to experience the best that life has to offer.”

Morrison Living chefs from two Springpoint Life Plan Communities – The Atrium at Navesink Harbor and The Oaks at Denville – led the delicious cooking demonstration, which booked up several days in advance.

The Foundation’s Community Cares program provides donations and health essentials for affordable housing residents. Community Cares relies on Life Plan Community residents, business partners, and team members who generously donate funds, time, and talent.
