The Winchester Fitness Center is Getting a Significant Upgrade!
The Winchester Gardens fitness center has always been an excellent place for residents to socialize and engage in daily individual and group exercises. They swim laps in the indoor pool and find their inner peace in tai chi or armchair yoga classes. It is a perfect location for residents to engage in their LivWell activities, Springpoint’s award-winning whole-person wellness program.
Last year, Terry Minervini, Winchester’s Director of Sales, decided it was time for the fitness center to get a new look. “The fitness center at Winchester Gardens is very small,” said Ms. Minervini. “The space was quite dated with old wallpaper and needed a facelift.”
Terry began talking to Winchester residents and staff members to gauge their interest in funding renovations to the fitness center. Before long and in partnership with the Springpoint Foundation -who aided the fundraising efforts, the residents and staff members were contributing to support the fitness center renovations. Winchester Gardens Executive Director, Sue Lippy echoed Minervini’s sentiments on the amount of support they received for renovating the fitness center.
“With Terry’s passion, a wave of spirit generated amongst residents and staff,” said Mrs. Lippy. This project wouldn’t have happened without that spirit.
Juli Towell was among many residents glad to contribute to the project. Juli’s husband Gil passed away last year; he was an avid fitness center user and would exercise daily. When the opportunity came to renovate the fitness center, Juli did not hesitate to contribute. “It was easy to give a donation in Gil’s name,” said Mrs. Towell. “He would have been excited about the new fitness center.”
In two months, more than 50 generous residents and staff members raised over $60,000. AC Construction Services renovated the fitness center and donated $10,000 to the project. The new renovations, which feature an expanded fitness center area to accommodate multiple machines, weights, and a ballet bar, were on full display during the ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening reception funded by the Foundation. Springpoint CEO Anthony Argondizza attended, along with several donors and other Springpoint representatives.
“It is always an exciting event when we can memorialize and commemorate a shared vision of a community and its philanthropic support of our donors with a grand opening with us all gathered together,” said Mr. Argondizza. “You have illuminated the dynamic power of giving, caring for others, and creating lasting legacies through health and wellness.”
The new fitness center will remain a central area where Winchester residents can engage in personal training sessions or group activities. It will also serve as a reminder of the Winchester residents’ and team members’ generosity.
